Here are the lyrics for the children’s Christmas album Sunshine and Snowflakes (1973). I originally transcribed them with my own two ears as best I could, but they have since been updated according to the official songbook (Thanks Steve, Jenny, and Lorri!). If you find any errors, please send me corrections. Thanks.

2. Over in Bethlehem
Over in Bethlehem,
One clear and shiv’ry night,
All of the stars were out,
But one was especially bright.
For it was shining down,
Over that little town,
Where Baby Jesus lay,
There on a bed of hay.
Jesus came to love us,
Like we are right now,
Glad or sad, good or bad, tall or wise, ’bout your size,
He can love us anyhow.
Over in Bethlehem,
Stars still shine above,
Children still laugh and play,
Protected by the Saviour’s love.
Jesus came to love us,
Like we are right now,
Glad or sad, good or bad, tall or wise, ’bout your size,
He can love us anyhow.
Over in Bethlehem,
Stars still shine above,
Children still laugh and play,
Protected by the Saviour’s Love.
Over in Bethlehem, the Saviour’s Love,
Over in Bethlehem, the Saviour’s Love,
Protected by the Saviour’s Love.
3. Wise Men Still Adore Him
Wise men still adore Him,
The One born in Bethlehem,
Lay your gifts before Him,
In your heart He’ll be born again.
Angels heard on high, His praises did sing,
Shepherds came by night to worship the King,
Wise men from afar rich offerings did bring,
To lay before the feet of the Lord.
Wise men still adore Him,
The One born in Bethlehem,
Lay your gifts before Him,
In your heart He’ll be born again.
[Break]
Wise men still adore Him,
The One born in Bethlehem,
Lay your gifts before Him,
You’ll be born again.
Angels heard on high, His praises did sing,
Shepherds came by night to worship the King,
And wise men from afar rich offerings did bring,
To lay before the feet of the Lord.
Wise men still adore Him,
The One born in Bethlehem,
Lay your gifts before Him,
In your heart He’ll be born again.
Wise men still adore Him,
The One born in Bethlehem,
Lay your gifts before Him,
In your heart He’ll/you’ll be born again.
In your heart He’ll be born again.
In your heart He’ll be born again.
4. The Very First Christmas Day
Such a long, long time ago,
In a land so far away,
A baby boy was born,
On the very first Christmas Day.
An extra special star,
Led the wise men on the way,
To a town called Bethlehem,
On the very first Christmas Day.
They wanted to do something,
That would help the Baby grow,
Seems we still want the same things now,
As they did long ago.
So they watched the Baby sleep,
And they all knelt down to pray,
For peace, hope, and love,
On the very first Christmas Day.
[Break]
They wanted to do something,
That would help the Baby grow,
Seems we still want the same things now,
As they did long ago.
So they watched the Baby sleep,
And they all knelt down to pray,
For peace, hope, and love,
On the very first,
On the very first Christmas Day.
5. Where’s Christmas?
Where, oh where, are all the things,
That I thought Christmastime was going to bring?
Last year I thought maybe this year I’d see,
Love and peace under my Christmas tree.
Where, oh where, did that dream go?
I guess it got lost in the deep, deep snow.
I thought maybe people would change,
But here we are just the same.
[Break]
This is the time of the year when you hear,
People shout about peace and good will.
Well it’s alright to shout it
But what are we doin’ about peace and good will?
Sing and shout about it.
We can ring jingle bells, sing “Silent Night”,
Get teary-eyed over Christmas tree lights.
As our eyes fill up with joy,
at the sight of kids opening some new toy,
Boy, oh boy, a brand new toy.
Guess that’s Christmas to some.
But that’s not Christmas to me.
Where, oh where, are all the things,
That I thought Christmastime was going to bring?
I don’t know, guess I thought I’d see,
Something else under my Christmas tree.
Maybe if we could think about that first Christmas night…
When angels sang over all the earth,
Promising peace through the Saviour’s birth.
If only people could see,
Maybe that’s what we need under our tree.
6. Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus
Well everybody has a birthday,
And a cake and a party too,
And all your friends come over,
And sing “Happy Birthday” to you.
Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus,
Even when your birthday’s through,
All year long we’ll remember,
Each precious gift we get from You.
So we sing,
Fa la la la, Fa la la la la,
He was born on Christmas Day.
Fa la la la, Fa la la la la,
He brings so much joy our way.
[Break]
When Jesus has a birthday,
The whole wide world was there,
And he gives out the presents
For all the people to share.
Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus,
Even when your birthday’s through,
All year long we’ll remember,
Each precious gift we get from You.
Let’s all sing,
Fa la la la, Fa la la la la,
He was born on Christmas Day.
Fa la la la, Fa la la la la,
He brings so much joy our way.
Let’s all sing,
Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus,
Even when your birthday’s through,
All year long we’ll remember,
Each precious gift we get from You.
Fa la la la la la la la la la,
Fa la, la la.
Fa la la la la la la la la la,
Merry Christmas to you.
Merry Christmas.
Fa la la la la la la la la la,
Fa la, la la.
Fa la la la la la la la la la,
Merry Christmas to you.
Merry Christmas to you.
